The Pale Blue Dot? Book Introduction

“Take me to the world inside your eyes”

A beautiful symphony of arrangement, like a combination of musical notes in harmony with their frequencies is our home: The Earth. Like leaves upon trees and budding flowers, the Earth yearns for the Sun. She stretches her arms to receive life, its warmth and growth. She yearns to recede, as demonstrated in peddles as they close their arms with respect to our orbiting Moon at night. A never ending consonance in synchronization with the Sun and Moon. Like a clock in synchronization between four cities, the four seasons are in obedience to the face of its clock: The Earth. Like the big and little hand upon the clock of time, the Sun – the brighter hand, and our Moon – the dimmer hand, tell us of their positions around the clock: The face of the Earth. The stars; our seconds, tell us of what is to come within the hour. They are in constant motion, hence producing time. The Earth is like a sundial in the narrowest sense of the word. The Sun and its shadow we see moving on the Sundial is our gnomon. Our Sun and Moon, casting their moving shadows upon our dials, can be seen. Their reflections on a clear day and night can be seen on the surface of our oceans, rivers, lakes, and deep water wells.

One such water well existed once in the city of Alexandria, located in Egypt. In this city there once lived a man named Eratosthenes; 276BC – 194BC. Eratosthenes was an astronomer, historian, geographer, mathematician and philosopher. It is said that one day, while holding the position of head and director of the great library of Alexandria, Eratosthenes read in a papyrus book that, at noon the Sun in southern Syene on the summer solstice of June 21st, vertical poles and/or large temple columns cast no shadows. He also read that during this time the reflection of the Sun can be seen at the bottom of a deep well, hence the Sun directly overhead in Syene. He then also read that at the same time vertical poles and temple columns in Alexandria produced shadows that can be seen. 

After reading this he wanted to know why. Using his inquisitive mind he planted a stick on June 21st to see if the Sun would cast a shadow in Alexandria: It did. He also found out that the shadow that was cast measured 7°. From this observation he concluded that the Earth was curved. No doubt, predecessors like Pythagoras – 570BC – 95BC and Aristotle – 384BC – 322BC, who floated the idea of a spherical Earth, more than likely influenced Eratosthenes. But yet he wanted to make sure for himself. So since the shadow between Alexandria and Syene was 7° apart on the Earth’s 360° surface, he decided to hire a man to literally walk from Alexandria to Syene which turned out to be 5,000 stadia apart (800 km/500ml). 

Using simple proportions he concluded that 7.2° over 360° equals 800km over an unknown number. 7.2° is 1/50 of 360°. 800km x 50 = 40,000km – the unknown number was solved for the size and circumference of the Earth. The Earth is supposedly 40,075km. Since there are 360 degrees in a circle, 7.2 degrees is 1/50 of an entire circle. So the span between Syene and Alexandria corresponds to 1/50 of the way all the way around the Earth. According to mainstream, Eratosthenes was only off by 75km. He also concluded that the greater the curvature, the greater the length of the shadow. He believed the Sun, being so far away when shining, will always cast rays parallel to the Earth. Parallel rays are said to cast shadows at different lengths when placed at different angles. 

The ancient Egyptians and Babylonians knew of the circular number of 360 from the Sumerians. Ancient Sumerians, c.2400BC, would watch the Sun, Moon, and the five visible planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn), primarily for omens. They did not try to understand the motions physically. They did, however, notice the circular track of the Sun’s annual path across the sky and knew that it took about 360 days to complete one year’s circuit. Consequently, they divided the circular path into 360 degrees to track each day’s passage of the Sun’s whole journey. After that, c.1500BC, the Egyptians divided the day into 24 hours, though the hours varied with the seasons originally. Greek astronomers made the hours equal. About 300 to 100 BC, the Babylonians subdivided the hour into base-60 fractions: 60 minutes in an hour and 60 seconds in a minute. The base 60 of their number system lives on in our time and angle divisions. This is the system we still use today, over 4,000 years later.

However, the numerical 360° is somewhat elusive. It is like trying to grab water. Since 360° is 180° twice, and since pi (π) radians is 3.14 of 180° twice (360°), π and their numbers are irrational, but workable, meaning that in decimal form it (Pi) never ends (like 0.999…), nor does it become repetitive (like 1/3 = 0.333…). Pi is fixed, but yet never-ending. As of 2019, Google confirmed it was able to compute Pi to 31.4 trillion decimal places, setting a new Guinness World Record. The argument I am presenting here can be said for all circles. All circles, regardless of their relatives sizes, will always equal 3.14. The Earth is said to be 40,075km in circumference, but this number is based upon a 360° standard model for circular spheres. Its Pi’s are infinite.

Keeping an infinite Pi in mind, what if we were to take a page out Eratosthenes’s assumption of a far away Sun and shrink it down to a small local heated light source orbiting a much larger Earth, like we see with our naked eye? What if we were to reject the coincidences that during a solar, or lunar eclipse, the Sun and Moon appear to be the same size due to their relative distances from each other as an absurdity of measurement? To reject their distances in relation to one another in favor of a small local Sun and Moon; the same size in which they instead orbit the face of our clock: The Earth; a much larger Earth. After all, it was the ancient Egyptians and Babylonians that gave us the “face of our clock” through their dividing of days and base 60 numerical value(s). 

The case for a larger Earth and its simple alternate math actually exists. Various ancient Chinese documents reveal this alternate fact. Documents and books; including the Guanzi, the Classic of Mountains and Seas, (Shanhai jing), the Springs and Autumns of Master Lü (Lü Shi chunqiu), and the Huainanzi reveal a very different method of calculation for the dimensions of the Earth in regards to ratios and properties of similar triangles. Most people have never heard of Guanzi, Huainanzi, Lu Shi chunqiu, etc, much less their inverted calculations of a spherical Earth. A working mathematical alternative in possible cooperation with that of the Asian calculation can be produced, while confirming the 500 mile distance between Syene, Alexandria, sticks, temple columns and their shadows, or lack thereof.

Assuming that the Earth is much larger and flat with an orbiting Sun and Moon, and knowing that radius is from the center of a circle to its edge while diameter is edge to edge through the radius, hence becoming twice its length, we can conclude that a 7°12′ makes a sweep of 1/25th of the flat Earth’s total longitude from 90°N to 90°S (radius). Therefore we can take the distance of 500 miles, multiply by 25, and find that the radius of the flat earth is about 12,250 miles. Doubling that figure for the diameter we get a figure of 25,000 miles. The Earth is physically much larger, of course. A circle with a diameter of 25,000 miles across is simply the area of land which the light of an orbiting local Sun affects, and represents the area of our known world.

The very thought of an orbiting Sun and Moon circling around the Earth is not only seen as preposterous to many, but also down-right foolish. Moreover, to many, it would appear that Eratosthenes had it correct all the time because we now have all the evidence in the world for a spherical globe Earth. Knowing this, let us now put our cards on the table. The only thing a globe adherent can hold on to are the evidentiary photos and live video streams that NASA provides us with so generously. The evidentiary photos and video feeds that are shown to us leave room for considerable doubt when we examine, scrutinize, and test them to the fullest extent possible. Once this is done, you will definitely see things from a different perspective and then question their validity. If there is any new evidence, a mathematical equation, or observational input in support for the flat circular Earth model; even for its geocentric position, then it should be fully questioned and examined.

I will be examining and discussing the two predominant views pertaining to the shape of the Earth: That being the heliocentric spherical (globe) Earth and the re-emerging geocentric flat, but circular Earth model. In order to do this I have provided a chronological outline to refresh the reader of the historical importance of who said what concerning the shape of the Earth, and when it was said. This is done to demonstrate overall perspective, discovery and distribution of relative change due to variables becoming what many today believe to be undeniable facts with reference to the shape and position of the Earth. Variables that became a reality in reference to how we see the Earth and the suppositional expanding universe as well, due to changes in philosophical, religious, and conceptual theories of thought; whether added, subtracted, old, or new.

A heliocentric spherical globe Earth model and its surrounding expanding universe more than likely gave birth to many pseudo concoctions and new added theories of thought and ideas. A separate Earth, as a ball hanging in the cosmos, gave way to wandering planets, extra terrestrials, time travel and outer space. Many do not realize that the term “outer space” was only recently coined in the 1900’s. If one were to do the research, they will find out that some scientists are actually beginning to reexamine the theory of an expanding universe. But does this get noticed? No, too boring. Not sensational or fantastical enough. Instead they opt for the esoteric; multiple universe’s giving birth to this one, multiple dimensions, and so forth. Adding theory onto theory, they deny “Occam’s Razor.” 

Similarly, the rhetoric of word phrases and actual beliefs like; “We don’t just inhabit the universe, we are a part of the universe; the part that sees and thinks and dreams.” Or “The universe is conscious and we are a part of that consciousness and/or of its cosmic crystals,” etc; all stem from the spherical dogmatic globe Earth model. Most of you, if not all, know this to be true. Flat Earthers have no such pseudo beliefs. In most respects, that is what makes flat Earthers logical on so many levels. But even they can become too dogmatic; often spewing conspiracy theories coupled with various scientific truths, myths, and outright misrepresentation of the facts given and quoted by them. 

Although there were predecessors who viewed the Earth as a spherical ball, its presuppositions were not heavily favored. However, key inventions, discoveries and ideological changes in history influenced our world view concerning the shape and position of the Earth. The change began to take root more prominently and permanently during the Renaissance era of the 1300’s-1600’s, the Reformation of the 1500’s, and the enlightenment era, or as it is commonly called; “the Age of Reason” – an era which was radically reoriented during the time between the 18th and early 19th centuries favoring; atheism and Darwinism, while rejecting the authority of church and state. Whether indirectly or not, a spherical heliocentric Earth model was key to this rejection. During these era’s various variables were undeniably and indirectly at work. 

One such variable at work during these times, and even to this present day in advanced forms, was the printing press. Invented between 1440-1450AD, the printing press, along with its advancements technologically, became a force to be reckoned with. During these times, even to the present, the likes of Nicolaus Copernicus 1473-1543, Johannes Kepler 1571-1630, Tycho Brahe 1546-1601, Sir Issac Newton 1643-1727, Albert Einstein 1879-1955, and the more recent; the late Stephen Hawking 1942-2018, were all born. Their influence within the scientific community would shape the world. However, their influence would not have shaped the world if it was not for the printing press. The printing press provided vast copies of books and pamphlets pertaining to works of religion and science. They were distributed without the careful eye of the church and state, who often kept numbers and tabs on what was to be accepted as proper dogma or burned as heretical. 

With the help of the Reformation and freedom of thought; books, whether heretical in religious or scientific form or not, were being mass produced quickly for all to read freely. Due to the speed of production in which books were now being printed and published, the church and state began to lose track on just how many copies, or volumes, were being marketed and produced. It is therefore no big surprise that latter men like the late Carl Sagan, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Michio Kaku, have been able to influence many in modern times. You can find their influences online and in any bookstore. Their influences, and that of their predecessors, permeate universities like Oxford, Harvard, Cambridge and Columbia. Yet they teach what is handed down to them; never questioning spherical globe Earth theories. They never question it because they say it is a known fact.

But what is unknown is the fact that during the days after the enlightenment era, some scientists began to actually question the shape of the Earth again. They also questioned its position relative to its neighboring celestial bodies; including the Sun and the Moon. This re-emergence began in the 1800’s and is still growing everyday. They claim the matter was never really settled honestly. The growth of this re-emergence is mostly due in part to observations. Observations that became a reality for many through arctic ship voyages across entire oceans and plausible workable alternatives, hence backing up many prior presuppositions. Moreover, many today are able to observe the Earth, celestial bodies and stars for themselves. This time however, it is not the observational word of a scientist or physicist that one is listening to, or looking through. Instead, it is the observances of what they can see through their own naked eyes; empowered even more so in this day and age through technology.

Thanks to modern day technologies; like personal rockets, personal telescopes, non Go-Pro cameras lenses, home videos and more – the latest being the Nikon P900 “super-zoom” camera. With the P900, we can now travel deeper into the heavens with our own eyes. This is precisely the reason why many are questioning the standard model of the Earth, Sun, Moon, planets and stars today. Many even question the universe itself. Couple this with those who began re-examining the standard model of the Earth in the 1800’s, we now have a movement. And since the movement exists, we must now re-question these things. And question them we will.

The work contained in this book concerning the re-emergence of the flat Earth theory is backed up by reputable citations; over 400, including links to citations, photographs and links to various videos. Not once did I cite from any flat modern day flat Earth book or website. To be honest with all of you, I find most of them, not all, but most, to be lacking in academics: No direction and no citations. I believe that if you are going to make a claim then you must be fair to both sides. You must then also back up your counter claim by conducting a thorough research of the topic you are scrutinizing. Moreover, you must back up your claim with a good and proper bibliography of works cited. 

A notation worth mentioning is the fact that chapters 6 and 8 were really the first two chapters I conducted. I knew that I had to write on cameras, photos and video feeds first before I went any further. Knowing of the Greek and Asian measurements for the Earth and the polar opposite mathematics involved, I thought to myself, “if I can not prove any discrepancies in NASA’s photographs and video feeds, I would dismiss the idea as an unprofitable pursuit. But since I was able to do so, the first two chapters became chapters 6 and 8.

Alternate math, documentary proof, a flat universe, an expanding Earth, an inversion of Eratosthenes’s circumference of the Earth and even a two dimensional space of existence, along with many other facts and presuppositions have all been quoted and backed up by various reputable universities, professors, physicists, papers and websites alike. Many of them, from an indirect fashion, confirm a flat Earth theory, though they deny it. The flat Earth model is a good alternative to the globe Earth model. It is the original model; that is before it was finally booted out in the 1800’s by faulty parallax measurements and a conceding hypothesis of an expanding universe in the early 1900’s, now in denial by many astro-physicists today. 

We live in an age where knowledge and a whole wealth of information exits; ours for the taking. With the rise of the internet and various social media platforms and outlets, the reemergence of the flat Earth theory has become a hot issue of debate once again. But often that debate is mired in confusion. It is therefore the intention of this book to put everything in its proper perspective; from A to Z. A perspective that poses the question; If one were to find out that the ancients, like the Sumerians, Egyptians and Babylonians, were accurate all along wouldn’t that be worth something? 

Opposition to the globe Earth model was often challenged, one way or another. Look and read everything carefully. Pay mind to the smallest detail, and if you don’t know what something is, research it, look it up carefully; even if it gets really dull and boring. No area of research is wasted time. Questions are powerful truth finders. Questions are hidden nuggets of knowledge. While nuggets of knowledge are the virtues of truth’s gained. This nugget is not intended to convert anybody to the flat Earth model, neither is it an attempt to reinforce the spherical Earth model. The book merely presents its arguments and its alternatives. Either way, whether after reading this book you become a flat Earther or not, I guarantee three things; you will learn something new, different and exciting.
